Can Dündar

Can Dündar was born 1961 in Ankara, Turkey. He has been working as a journalist for 40 years. He produced documentaries and worked as an anchorman for news channels in Turkey. He stepped down from his post as the editor-in-chief of daily Cumhuriyet in 2016, after he was jailed due to his story on the Turkish Intelligence Service’s illegal arms transfer to Syria. He spent 92 days in jail before being released by the decision of the Consitutional Court. He was later sentenced 27,5 years of imprisonment for “releasing the state secrets”. Dündar has been living in exile in Germany since 2016. He writes for Die Zeit and founded the Radio Özgürüz in Germany. Can Dündar wrote 40 books in Turkish some of which were published also in German, English, Italian, Spanish, Greek, and Chinese.
