Vaiva Grainytė

Vaiva Grainytė was born in Kaunas in 1984. She is a writer, playwright and poet. Her first book of essays, “Peking Diaries” (2012) and her poetry collection “Gorilla’s Archives” (2019) were both nominated for the Book of the Year and acclaimed as the most creative publication in Lithuania. She wrote the libretto for the opera “Have a Good Day!” (2013), which won six international awards in Europe and has been translated into ten languages. She is also the librettist of the opera performance Sun & Sea (Marina) (2019), which was selected to represent Lithuania at the 58th Biennale in Venice. The piece received the top award, the Golden Lion.
