Normally, every summer Berlin is transformed for seven days into a temple of poetry. Poets and artists from around the world come to the poesiefestival berlin, one of Europe’s biggest poetry festivals since 2000. This year, the festival will take place online for the second time. The productions from 2020 are still available here.
Under the heading There lies Europe, the 22nd poesiefestival berlin from 11 to 17 June 2021 is investigating the poetry of Europe in all its diversity of forms and languages, and in spite of the pandemic is building poetic bridges across the continent. Multilingualism, the ambivalence of language policymakers to the languages, migration and diaspora – these are the thematic lines along which the Festival will be putting Europe to the test.
The poesiefestival berlin is organised by the Haus für Poesie in cooperation with its partners and supporters.
It is worth being there live! The events celebrate their premieres at fixed broadcast times and are streamed on the festival site behind a paywall. Ticket codes are available for 3€ per event or 19€ for the entire festival programme, each granting access to the events for 2 months. Selected streamings will also be followed by ZOOM live conversations on Facebook and YouTube.
Registration is required for the Poetic Education workshops at mitmachen@haus-fuer-poesie.org.
Over 70 essays, interviews and anthology contributions can also be accessed free of charge and regardless of time here in the media library.
The 22nd poesiefestival berlin is a project by the Haus für Poesie in cooperation with the Academy of Arts. Funded by the Capital Cultural Fund and the Federal Foreign Office. It gratefully acknowledges the kind support of the Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG and the Goethe-Institut. Presented by Der Freitag, taz, BÜCHERmagazin, tip Berlin/ EXBERLINER, rbbKultur, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, ASK HELMUT and SINN UND FORM.
This year, the festival events will take place behind a paywall. For 3€ per event or 19€ for all events, the productions can be accessed via ticket code for two months at poesiefestival.org. Poetry education prices may vary.
In addition, there are numerous text contributions, interviews and essays that can be viewed free of charge on the website. Participation in the Collective Festival Poem and the digital festival foyer is also free.
