Bas Böttcher

Bas Böttcher was born in Bremen in 1974. He is one of the major forerunners of the German Poetry Slam scene. In 1997 he won the first German Poetry Slam championship. His work has found its way into school textbooks and important collections of German-language verse, including “Der Neue Conrady” and “Lyrikstimmen”. Böttcher is the inventor of the Textbox, a kind of aquarium for live performances, which has been exhibited worldwide. He has taught at the German Literature Archive in Marbach, at the Kulturakademie Baden-Württemberg, at the Goethe Institute and as a guest professor at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig.
